So with some wonderful support from the Zidalgo team, my site has been up and running beautifully for over a month now.  But as I continue to use this theme, I notice that more and more of the required plug-ins are releasing updates.

My question is:  "Is it ok to install the updates to the plug-ins?" …and furthermore, "Will I need to change any of the code in order to keep my site looking the way it does now?"

I seem to remember some discussion when I was trying to get my site up and running about an issue with updating the 'Share This' plug-in, so I just want to make sure I don't update something that will not work.

So if you have installed all the new updates and the 'demo' is still working fine, then I'll start updating…but I just want to double check first.

I am absolutely loving this theme…so thanks a ton for the help on this small issue.

Matt

Woops! Sorry for the lack of response here Matt, some forum settings are a bit funky with notification, and I'm transitioning to phpbb.

As for the plugins, you should feel comfortable upgrading any of them. I would always recommend not upgrading "Share This" though, since that will actually reduce functionality of the plugin, and ad ad-ware. There are a few plugins which may lose some customization settings when you upgrade them, however any of the (few) plugins that do require certain settings, should be detailed in the main README.txt for the theme. I've detailed exactly what settings to make on which plugins.

If you run into any issues though, be sure to let me know and we'll get it handled.

Well crap.

Strike one and I'm giving up.  I tried updating the Contact Form and it completely crapped out.

My site is a total disaster right now and I can't fix it.

Error at the top of every page:

Warning: main(/homepages/26/d175169073/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/) [function.main]: failed to open stream: Success in /homepages/26/d175169073/htdocs/wordpress/wp-settings.php on line 465

Warning: main() [function.include]: Failed opening '/homepages/26/d175169073/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php') in /homepages/26/d175169073/htdocs/wordpress/wp-settings.php on line 465

It also messed with all the formatting.

Pissed.

Sorry you're upset, but these things happen with websites sometimes, especially whenever you try to update something =)

I've never seen that error, and not sure what steps to take to fix. However I'd start with verifying permissions on that directory and file it is trying to include/access – the one that it says failed to open. Make sure it exists and has the proper permissions.
Past that I would revert to the old plugin version if all else fails. The CFORM plugin has a forum and site, the issue may have already been brought up to their support.
